Digital Manufacturing and RTLS
The Industry 4.0 paradigm has introduced new concepts and models in the manufacturing world. One of the fundamental architectural elements in the vision of Industry 4.0 is the digital twin, based on the idea that every physical entity must have a representation in the digital world. In the field of discrete manufacturing, physical entities to be represented with a digital model include batches of raw materials, semi-finished or finished products, tools, production workers, etc... RTLS (Real-Time Locating System) technologies are able to create the digital twin, providing entities position, possibly integrated with augmented information (status, environmental parameters, ...). Bluetooth Low Energy: key technology for RTLS
