BlueUp launches the cheapest Wirepas gateway ever

Wirepas Mesh 2.4GHz is a powerful mesh network protocol that allows to deploy affordable, massive, and high-density short-range IoT applications with unprecedented performance.

In a Wirepas Mesh network, gateway is a crucial component, as it bridges the mesh network to a central server either on-premise or in the cloud. Until today, Wirepas gateway drivers only run on top of an embedded Linux system. For this reason, the gateway is the most expensive and complex device of a Wirepas network so, although typically only a few are needed for each network, it can have an impact on the overall cost of the system. Additionally, the recent shortage of electronic components has had a huge impact on the price and lead time of Wirepas gateways.

From today, you can finally forget about complex, hard-to-find and expensive Linux-based Wirepas gateways: we are proud to launch our new TinyGateway WiFi Wirepas, the world's first Wirepas gateway based on ESP32, a game changer in the world of Wirepas Mesh IoT, and beyond.

TinyGateway is based on ESP32-S3 processor, that allows to build flexible low-cost IoT devices. It provides the complete set of drivers to connect a Wirepas network to an MQTT interface, like any standard Linux-based Wirepas gateway.

Here are the salient features of TinyGateway WiFi Wirepas:

• Compact size: only 7.5 x 7.5 x 2.5 cm
• Low power consumptions: less than 1.5W
• Easy wall installation: dual-adhesive or screws, with front/back clip-together quick assembly
• Wirepas sink: based on nRF52832, with support of Wirepas stack 5.x (up to 5.3)
• WiFi connectivity: IEEE 802.11 b/g/n
• Backend communication: standard Wirepas Gateway MQTT APIs
• Dual power-supply: USB-C connector for standard USB 5V or internal 2-port connector for 4.5-30V DC, with rear knockout for cable entry
• Configuration: intuitive web-based user interface and HTTP APIs
Lowest price on the market

TinyGateway WiFi Wirepas is just the first in a new family of Wirepas gateways. The Ethernet PoE version will also be launched in the coming months.

TinyGateway WiFi Wirepas can be pre-ordered in limited quantities until January 30th, with a special 15% discount, through the following link. Mass production availability is expected in March.

But the news doesn't stop there!

We have designed TinyGateway WiFi, assuming functional flexibility as a fundamental requirement, like a Swiss Army knife for wireless IoT. Let's find out what you can do with it.

First of all, thanks to its low cost, TinyGateway WiFi can also be used as a low-latency anchor for Wirepas Mesh 2.4GHz, by configuring the internal nRF52832 as a router node. For large quantities, a custom version without ESP32 module will be available, allowing for a further reduction in price.

TinyGateway WiFi can be used as IoT sensor, with BLE, Wirepas Mesh 2.4GHz or WiFi communication. We have designed the TinyGateway board to be compatible with Mikroe Click Boards: thanks to the large selection of sensor boards, we can transform TinyGateway into an IoT sensor to monitor physical or environmental parameters, like temperature, humidity, air quality, etc... For sensor applications, a special vented version of the enclosure will be available.
The process for getting IoT sensor is really simple: you choose the sensor from Mikroe catalog (or you provide us specs for a custom sensor) and the communication technology, we develop firmware, and, in a short time, you have a working device on your desk. TinyGateway WiFi becomes a real development kit for IoT applications!

TinyGateway WiFi can also be a BLE gateway. TinyGateway WiFi BLE version will be available soon: it can be used as locator of BLE tags for RTLS applications or scanner for monitoring BLE beacons and sensors.

Finally, TinyGateway has a bigger and more robust brother, which can be used outdoors, thanks to its rugged IP65 enclosure: TinyGateway WiFi Outdoor. With it, you can do everything that is possible with the standard version, but in an outdoor and industrial environment: Wirepas gateway, Wirepas low-latency anchor, IoT sensor device, BLE gateway.
