bleenc Starter Kit: the easiest way to start your localization project
The bleenc Starter Kit has been designed to make the first approach to the bleenc localization system simple, practical, and immediate. Created by BlueUp to enable real-world testing of the platform’s features, the kit is a complete solution for fully understanding the potential of BLE technology applied to indoor localization.
Inside the Starter Kit, you will find a practical guide that walks users through the key concepts, components, and operating principles of the platform.
A complete, ready-to-use infrastructure
The kit comes preconfigured and fully operational, with no need for complex setup. This allows to quickly build a first working localization infrastructure, ideal for simulating real-world scenarios and validating concrete use cases.
The Starter Kit is particularly suitable for environments organized into rooms and transition areas, such as hospitals, nursing homes, offices, or laboratories—typical application contexts for the bleenc system. In these spaces, it is easy to recreate realistic tracking and monitoring scenarios.
What you will find in the Starter Kit
The Starter Kit includes all the core components of the bleenc infrastructure: the software platform and the hardware ecosystem (gateways, beacons, tags, and sensors).
The software includes the web user interface, project and device management and configuration tools, the Positioning Engine, and data exchange interfaces with external applications. By default, the software is provided in cloud mode and can be accessed remotely via both the web interface and APIs. Upon request, the software can also be supplied preinstalled on a mini PC. The availability of APIs (via HTTP or MQTT protocols), with no usage limits, allows the Starter Kit to be used to connect bleenc with external applications, enabling and simplifying integration into existing digital ecosystems.
The hardware component includes gateways, beacons, multiple tag models, and BLE sensors, offering a complete configuration to implement a wide range of use cases.
bleenc gateways represent the first level of localization: they enable real-time tag tracking and provide immediate information about device status, such as movement or immobility, button presses, or alarm conditions triggered by shocks or falls (if configured). Gateways also support bidirectional communication, making it possible to send low-latency commands (such as activating notifications via LED blinking or vibration, or updating content on e-paper displays) and modify device configurations.
bleenc beacons represent the second level of the localization infrastructure and allow the creation of micro-location zones. Installed in rooms, at workstations, or near specific machinery, they refine tag positioning with greater accuracy. Position updates can occur periodically at configurable intervals or be triggered by events such as button presses, transitions from movement to immobility, shock detection, or commands sent to the tag. This variety of operating modes ensures flexibility based on application requirements.
The kit may include different types of tags: wearable tags with a button, ideal for safety and emergency call scenarios; asset tags for object tracking; LED tags for “find-by-light” visual identification; and e-paper tags with a button for Smart Manufacturing applications. To demonstrate interoperability with BLE devices, the kit also includes BLE sensors: a temperature and humidity sensor and a motion sensor.
From experimentation to real-world use cases
Thanks to this combination of software and hardware, the Starter Kit allows to validate the distinctive features of the bleenc system in concrete use cases and real operating conditions. You can test localized emergency calls, monitor asset positions in real time, implement “pick-to-light” and “find-by-light” functions, manage content on e-paper tags, and collect data through BLE sensors.
The Starter Kit is not just a demonstration tool, but a true starting point for developing a complete localization project. It includes the full set of bleenc platform features and allows to progressively explore its full potential, moving from testing to a structured and scalable implementation.
