BlueUp and Connect Informatics have announced an operational collaboration aimed at integrating BlueUp IoT (Internet of Things) and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) technologies into Connect Informatics clinical-organizational software platform, used by hospitals and socio-healthcare facilities.
Thanks to this partnership, it will be possible to enhance electronic health records, clinical and administrative process management, and AI-based risk management solutions with added value: real-time localization, asset and personnel tracking, and operational data analysis—all integrated to improve efficiency, safety, and quality of care.
Why BlueUp is a key partner
BlueUp, an innovative SME founded in 2014, is today Italy’s leading reference for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technologies applied to the Internet of Things (IoT). Through continuous research and development, the company has successfully established itself both nationally and internationally. BlueUp develops and provides advanced RTLS (Real-Time Locating Systems) solutions for identification, localization, tracking, and distributed monitoring applications.
BlueUp has developed significant expertise in healthcare and senior-care applications, thanks to participation in R&D projects such as ATLAS and HEART, as well as collaborations and projects with European healthcare partners. BlueUp technologies are installed in healthcare facilities in Italy, Germany, France, the UK, and Belgium.
Recently, BlueUp launched bleenc, an innovative RTLS platform for healthcare and care facilities (hospitals, nursing homes, retirement homes, etc.), which enables multiple functionalities: localization and tracking of medical devices and equipment, nurse call via wearable devices, staff safety through alarm localization, and control of unauthorized exits. From a technical standpoint, the platform introduces key market innovations, including a low-power bidirectional BLE communication protocol and data encryption, ensuring the highest standards of reliability and security.
Connect Informatics contribution
Connect Informatics is an established player in the healthcare and socio-healthcare IT sector. Its software platform, Equipe (electronic health record + clinical-organizational management), is used by numerous public and private healthcare and socio-healthcare facilities.
The platform covers clinical, administrative, organizational areas, data integration, and citizen portal functionalities, also providing AI-based tools for process optimization and operational risk prevention. In this partnership, Connect Informatics will provide its platform and its consolidated network of over 230 facilities with more than 17,000 beds across twelve regions.
Objectives and expected impact
Thanks to the integration between Connect’s clinical software platform and BlueUp RTLS infrastructure, healthcare organizations will have access to more integrated digital environments where operational flows, critical data, clinical-assistance processes, and logistical assets are managed as a unified network. Specifically, the partnership aims to:
-
monitor in real-time the location of people, equipment, and critical items (e.g., infusions, beds, carts);
-
use AI algorithms to analyze operational and clinical events in real-time and prevent risk situations (e.g., overloads, inefficient flows, process errors);
-
improve quality of care by ensuring greater patient and staff safety, reducing asset search times, limiting theft or obsolescence, and optimizing care pathways;
-
simplify integration with other systems (RESTful APIs, interface standards, digital signatures) and safeguard the continuity of investments made by healthcare facilities.
This partnership confirms BlueUp commitment to the healthcare sector, strengthening its technological offering and contributing concretely to the digitalization of healthcare facilities. At the same time, Connect Informatics expands its ecosystem by integrating cutting-edge IoT solutions, offering client facilities a more complete and innovative package. Together, the two companies place the individual, safety, and operational efficiency at the center, promoting integrated and intelligent care.
